The Proposed Ten Year Course Plan
Below are proposals and comments regarding our planned ten year development program for our course.
Course Plan Overview
- The Course doesn't need overhauled, changes suggested are cheap/quick and a tweaking of the course.
- Any development should not unduly penalise the longer handicap members.
- Old nine is underdeveloped.(marginal challenge)
- The course has not kept up with modern golf technology.
- If we plant too many trees we can cut them down. But it takes a very long time to get them there.
- If we put a mound or grass bunker or a mound in the wrong place we can move it.
- Any developments must not increase the work load of the greenkeeper or volunteers to any great extent.
- Reward fairway play and penalise long wayward shots.
- Remove bunkers as to be effective in giving members practice at getting out, we need ten or a dozen on the course. A lot of extra cost and time in maintenance. A proper bunker on the practise fairway?
- Maintain the overall park like appearance of the course.
- Don’t get hung up on the timetable. It’s only a guide. The spread of the workload has to be considered.

At our monthly meeting on the Monday evening it was bought to the Committees' attention that there are some misunderstandings regarding the 10 year course plan. The main misunderstanding would appear to be that many members feel that once "the Plan" is decided upon that is that for the next 10 years. That is definitely not the case. The plan is a working guide for Committees to follow - it is not set in concrete, and no doubt as members come up with modifications to the plan these will be incorporated into it. Remember that you have until February 28th to put in your written submission and please make sure that it is signed.
