She Loves Golf

Point Chip and Sip 5-week series at Pleasant Point Golf Start Date 02/10/25

“She Loves Golf in Canterbury was such a fun way to wind down after work – out in the sunshine, hitting a few balls, having a laugh with the group, and then wrapping it up in the clubhouse with a drink.”– Steph, North Canterbury

“Monday nights She Loves Golf is the highlight of any Monday after work. It’s great to try out lots of different courses, meet all sorts of people, and not be worried about how you play. Everyone is in the same boat, having a laugh and learning along the way.”– Katherine, Central Christchurch

Why join Point Chip and Sip?

Golf can feel intimidating – “What do I wear? What do I bring? Will I hold everyone up?”Point Chip and Sip is our local version of "She Loves Golf" which is a nationwide program in New Zealand, supported by Golf New Zealand, designed to make golf more accessible and enjoyable for women of all ages and skill levels.

Point Chip and Sip focuses on breaking down barriers – no judgment, no complex rules, just a friendly and inviting atmosphere for all women stepping into the game. After every round, we gather indoors for a drink together, as the social aspect is just as vital as the golf experience!

How it works? The 1st Session 6pm Thursday 2nd October

Kindly supported by The Golf Stop Timaru, We are holding our initial get together on site at The Golf Stop where you will be welcome by a fun and friendly atmosphere, the perfect space for beginners and ladies returning to the game.

No clubs? No worries - we have gathered together preloved golf clubs still in wonderful condition for you to use.

We kick off at 6pm with a welcome from our very own Aorangi Golf Paticipation co-ordintator - Hami Goldsmith. During the evening you will receive group and individual coaching for any stage you are at. From how to hold the club correctly to how to tighten up your swing.

You get to try out putting on the three indoor putting greens and test your drive on the onsite Golf Simulator. You will be playing alongside other newcomers - so no one is keeping score, just fun and social.

Once all the hard work is done, we get together for complimentary drinks and nibbles here at the Golf Stop - the social side is just as important as the golf.

Four FREE weeks of Coaching and Golf

On Thursday the 9th October until Thursday the 30th of October, we start with a series of FOUR fun 45 minute coaching sessions and games followed by three holes in 30 minutes.

Spot Prizes and Giveaways are also part of the fun when we gather back to the clubhouse for drinks that can be purchased at the bar and complimentary nibbles.

On the final evening, we will finish up with a prize giving evening at Pleasant Point Golf Club to celebrate how far we have come - an event not to be missed!

Where to next?

Depending on interest and numbers we hope to carry things on with more 6 and 9-hole events throughout summer playing against other local clubs. You will get to play at different local courses and meet other women golfers around the district.

It’s easy to register online and we’ll post on our Facebook group when the registrations are open, Register here.
