Welcome to our new look June Newsletter

No 30 - June 2022

Presidents Report

We are now in winter mode, with grass growth slowing considerably and wet and slippery conditions about.

There are several areas around the course that are very slippery so please be aware of these and avoid if possible.

Isn't it great to see the progress made on the 16th tee, it is looking brilliant and all we need now is for the grass to strike.

Thank you so much to the team that have been working on this.

It is another great example of the work that gets done by volunteers to make our club a better place.

Our new website and Facebook page are up and running, thanks mainly to the hard work done by Di Roddick, our secretary. Thank-you for this Di, it looks tremendous and easy to use with good links to other sites, like Aorangi Golf.

Please use these sites as we will try to keep them as up to date as possible.

Going forward this will be our main source of information sharing and may end up replacing the program book.

Stay warm and dry everyone.

Happy golfing.

New Look Website

The new website is now uploaded and hopefully you are finding it, very user friendly to navigate around.  From checking out the calendar to see whats happening on any given day or month or just checking competition results. When checking results remember to click on drop down tabs as  that will change to the different grades and also see who has had twos. Results will also be in both newspapers Timaru Herald or the Courier.  Later in July, we will show a demonstration on competition days, on the big screen for those who may still be unsure how to navigate around the site.

Women Report - Heather Mills

All Pennant games have been played and although none of our teams made the playoffs, they all seem to enjoy the match play events.

Congratulations to  our National Teams of Ali Barrett & Rose Allison, Shelly Flintoft & Judy Hamer who finished 3rd in the final played at Fairlie.

Six members ventured south to North Otago to challenge for the Low Cup which was played in very cold conditions. They acquitted themselves very well playing out a 3 all draw but to be defeated by a countback.

Our 5th Shootout winner was Joan Greer with a Nett 72 and the 6th winner was Cath Boothroyd  with a Nett 68.

Please empty vacuum cleaner after use and

wipe tables then push in chairs.

Course Report - Neville Burt

Winter conditions are now with us and with only now mowing the greens.  On course work has seen Tees being verti-drained this week and a start made on pruning and tidying up of trees.

Work on no 16 continues and all stonework has been completed and a small garden area is currently being made in the small area between the rear of the tee and the near Sequoia tree.

Health & Safety

Wet and damp conditions in a number of areas around the course have made for slippery underfoot conditions this past week.

I was reported that 2 lady members had slipped in a couple of these Areas and no injury was reported.
