Presidents Report

We have had another successful year at the Pleasant Point Golf Club and that was highlighted to me at the AGM on Monday the 5th of December, the quality and fullness of the reports and good healthy turnout were testament that we as a club are heading in the right direction.

Also this week I attended the Thursday Golf year end prize giving, and what a joy that was.

Well over 60 golfers played with all getting prizes, thanks to Colin Turner, Denis Mills and their helpers for organising this each week.

It was great to see some old(er) faces there that we don't see as often nowadays, guys like Gordon, Bryan, Euan, Brian, Norm and Rob.

You guys helped shape our club and it was great to see you there.     Please guys it is your club too, come anytime. My shout.

With that the year is almost over, on behalf of your committee I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and golf filled New Year.

Congratulations to Alton Mangum - Life Member 2022

At the AGM held Monday 5 December 2022 President Warren Leslie annouced Alton Mangum as a new life member.  Alton joined  PPGC in 1977 where he has been Senior Club Champion 18 times the first being in 1979.  Also representing Aorangi Golf District at the highest level on many occasions. Alton also served as Club Secretary for a number of years and thereafter as President and remains a valued management committee member.

The recent refurbishment of the Clubhouse was overseen by Alton as well as a number of other project in and around the Clubhouse.

Alton is a high achiever with 'Hole in ones' having achieved one on each of the par 3's including 2 on No 8 and 2 on No 13.

Thank you Alton for being and continuing to be a valued Club member.

Thursday Stableford Xmas Prize giving 8 December. Winner of McRae Trophy was Bevin Guthrie 43 points. There were 62 players in the field with a few distinguished club members who no longer play joining in with Xmas Cheer, where everyone won a prize. 
 

 

Membership subscriptions automatically renew each year and your circumstances may change - please contact Treasurer or Secretary for payment options as Invoices are sent out early January.

Radius Care Elloughton Christmas Ambrose - Saturday 3 December

29 teams enjoyed a fun day of golf with most teams winning a prize. The overall winning score was 53.875 by a team called 'I like big Putts'  Congratulations Damian, Hamish, and the two Daniels. 

 
 

Our Club has a busy start to the year with a number of large tournaments coming up - PaknSave Teams Stablebford on 15 January, Centennial Ambrose on 6 February, NZMCA tournament 2 March and 2 day Summer Classic 4 & 5 March -  Course Convenor Neville Burt is planning to have a Volunteer Course Grooming Day on Sunday 22 January.

Our Club would like every club member who is available, be it a Junior, 9 Hole, Women or Men to come along with your partners and kids and join in.

An induction meeting at 9.45am when Neville (his list is long and growing each day) will allocate areas that need grooming, cleaning or tiding up.  Please wear hats, suitable footwear, bring gloves, line trimmers, spades, rakes etc if your have gumboots please being them. 

Neville is looking to clean out the creek from 18 through to 11 and many hands will make light work.  Also the cart shed and changing rooms, club golf carts need cleaning, shingle walkways raked, concrete edges trimmed - I'm sure there is a job just for you.

At 12.15 the Club will provide a Sausage sizzle in appreciation for your efforts.
