COURSE STATUS

The course is looking fabulous as always. With the increase in diesel costs, the amount of mowing was assessed. It was decided to leave this up to Damian's discretion. Less mowing can just to lead to increased mow times so not necessarily a win.

The tree on hole No. 7 has been felled, wood cut up and split plus we had all the branch material mulched and this has been placed around the native plantings adjacent to No 9. green.

The tee area on No. 8 has also been levelled and regrassed. Also, the ‘hole’ on No. 11 tee was repaired and refilled- this was due to old organic matter below the surface breaking down with the result that the turf above sinking.

Course Committee.

THINGS TO NOTE

It is wonderful to see some new members joining our club and also the return of past members who have been away with injuries or illness (Members who need an extended period off because of injury/illness may be able to have their membership put on hold. Please speak directly to Neville if you are in this position.)

Reminder: Please be mindful of your pace of play and keep up with the group in front of you at all times. If your group falls behind and a faster group is waiting, you are expected to invite them through at the earliest opportunity to keep the course flowing smoothly for everyone. This courtesy should also be extended to  green fee players who are visiting on a Club Day, when the competition field is small.

There are still a lot of membership tags not yet collected. They are in the clubhouse and can be accessed on any club day.

OTHER STUFF.

Photo from Lion's meeting in March. Next meeting Thursday 14th May. Helpers gratefully accepted.

There will be a trial on Thursday's, allowing players to decide whether to tee off from the white or yellow markers. Many of our players may appreciate this idea as a way of making the game more enjoyable if they have been struggling.

We have reached nearly 98% of players self-entering. The extra laptop inside has helped with this. And certainly makes the job of the members in the office easier and allows them time for a post match beverage.

Don't forget the coveted spots of Top Dog and Top Chick are up for grabs every month on Thinkwater Qualifier days. Bring your best game. Match Committee.

With us moving into the cooler months we want to ensure members still get to play as much golf as possible. If the course is closed on a Thursday, the competition will be moved to Friday. And the same for a Saturday (if closed), moved to Sunday.

There are a couple of new membership options available. After a very successful round of junior golf, a parent/child option was introduced. This allows the child to have a GolfNZ membership, allowing them to work towards obtaining a handicap and therefore be eligible to compete in competitions. The parent will be entitled to play alongside their child but unable to have a handicap or enter competitions. We are seeing more and more young people enjoying the game and this allows for the parents to join in with them, rather than simply drop them at the gate. There will also be a membership option available for the women who registered for Chip n Sip and members of local sports teams. This membership option has specific conditions and for more details on this and all membership options, interested people should contact Rachel via pleasantpointgolf@farmside.co.nz
